Developing Core Skills 

From Reception onwards, our pupils are introduced to a more formal and structured style of learning, whilst still keeping it fun and engaging. It’s important for our pupils to not only develop core skills in subjects like mathematics and English, but also to develop their love for learning. 

We have ensured that all our pupils regularly participate in reading, whether in groups or as a solo activity. At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, we consider reading to be the key to learning and life, and use the Oxford Reading Tree (a scheme of books tailored to teach reading through phonetics) to help our pupils establish this fundamental skill. As further encouragement, we have also integrated reading nooks throughout the school building, as well as a library filled with a variety of books to spark inspiration within our pupils. 

Culture and Heritage 

As a school in Riyadh, we have paid special attention in ensuring the curriculum we deliver fits within the context of being a school in Saudi Arabia. Although based on the British curriculum, Arabic language, Islamic Studies and Social Studies are central components to our pupil’s learning. Leading our Arabic and Islamic Studies department is Mr Mohamed Aljouma, who has worked across schools in Saudi Arabia for 13 years focusing on global education. 

It’s essential that pupils develop a strong and meaningful understanding of their culture and heritage, whilst following a curriculum that develops them as a whole. In addition to being part of the core program, pupils also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Arabic language through our co-curricular classes. We also offer a choice of other activities, including Spanish, Drama and STEM.
