The Joy of Learning
Aldenham School Riyadh

This week has been an extraordinary celebration of learning, creativity and pupil achievement across Aldenham School Riyadh. From scientific discovery and entrepreneurial thinking to writing, resilience and sport, the school has been alive with energy, imagination and ambition.

We began the week with a truly inspiring assembly led by Year 5 Eucalyptus, Mr Tasir Shah and Mr Crispin Cole on the theme of The Power of Practice. Through thoughtful presentations and confident delivery, pupils reminded us that growth is rarely instant. Confidence, resilience and success are developed steadily over time through perseverance, reflection and determination. It was a powerful message not only for children, but for all of us.

One of the great strengths of our school is the partnership we continue to build with families, and this was clearly evident during Tuesday morning’s Parent Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Education, led by Mr Simon Baxter. Parents were highly engaged and eager to explore the opportunities and challenges that AI presents for education and for the future of our children. The discussion was lively, insightful and forward-thinking, reflecting a community that is deeply invested in preparing young people for an ever- changing world.

Innovation and creativity were also on full display during this week’s Mini Enterprise programme. Pupils from Years 6, 7 and 8 presented product ideas, branding concepts, marketing strategies, design proposals and financial planning with remarkable confidence and originality. There was genuine entrepreneurial spirit in the room, alongside teamwork, problem-solving and imagination. We are extremely grateful to Mrs Hina Khan for leading such a valuable initiative and for creating opportunities that encourage pupils to think independently, creatively and ambitiously.

Today’s Science Fair has undoubtedly been one of the highlights of the term. Walking through the displays and presentations, it was impossible not to feel inspired by the curiosity, enthusiasm and scientific thinking of our pupils. From EYFS through to Year 8, children were asking questions, testing ideas, making predictions and thinking deeply about the world around them. Encouraging inquiry, experimentation and scientific thought from an early age is enormously important; it has been wonderful to see so many budding scientists emerging across the school community. A huge thank you goes to Mrs Siddiqah Choudhury, Head of Science, and to all staff and parents who contributed to such an outstanding event.

There is a great deal happening across the school at the moment, and it is inspiring to see pupils increasingly involved, engaged and enthusiastic in so many aspects of school life. These opportunities matter deeply. They help shape confident, capable and compassionate young people, ready not only for examinations, but for life itself.

A thought that feels especially fitting this week: “Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.” William Arthur Ward

At Aldenham Riyadh, we see that curiosity shining brightly every single day.
