Beyond the Textbook: Exhibition Showcases at Aldenham Prep Riyadh
Education is not just about textbooks and tests; it's about giving children opportunities to apply their knowledge and learn through experience. At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, we hold exhibitions that showcase our pupils' hard work and dedication to their learning. These exhibitions not only provide a platform for our pupils to display their achievements, but they also allow parents to see first-hand the efforts their children have made.
Nursery and Reception: Bugs
Exploring the fascinating world of bugs, Nursery and Reception learned about the life cycle of butterflies, engaged in hands-on learning, and created their own butterfly and bug jars. In addition, they honed their motor skills and hand-eye coordination by building spiderwebs. The exhibition culminated in parents joining their children in interactive bug-inspired activities.
Year 3: Travel and Tourism
Year 3's Travel and Tourism topic took pupils on a journey around the world without leaving the classroom! They explored foreign currencies, packed luggage for specific destinations, and earned air miles for completing activities. The pupils even created billboards showing where they would most like to go on vacation, including researching the cost of flights and necessary clothing for their dream destinations.
Year 5: Endangered Animals
Year 5's exhibition focused on Endangered Animals, with the pupils setting a goal to save a rhino from extinction. After learning about animals, their habitats, and endangered species, the pupils created their own clay rhinos and posters on all the animals. They also built a donation box for parents to make a contribution towards saving a rhino!
Fostering a Love of Learning
These exhibitions go beyond the textbook, providing pupils with hands-on experiences and real-world applications of their learning. By engaging in these activities, they not only deepen their understanding of the material but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Exhibitions like these are just one of the many ways we help foster a love of learning and encourage pupils to reach their full potential.
