Music and Drama
Music and Drama are important areas of the curriculum, as both subjects improve pupils’ confidence and communication, and allow them to express themselves creatively.
By learning to understand and appreciate music, children can unlock one of the core elements of what makes us human. It is often said that in music, our minds and our hearts can express themselves at the same time. At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, music is very important, and our pupils benefit greatly from the fact that it’s not treated as an afterthought, 'squeezed in' to the daily timetable if teachers have a spare few minutes. From Aldenham Nursery onwards, all children are taught by specialist and highly-trained music teachers.
Participating in Drama encourages pupils to use their imagination, and teaches them how to express and share feelings and ideas. It also builds self-confidence, and develops the ability to work in a team for a shared goal. At Aldenham, drama is taken seriously (although the children still have fun!). The children are taught by specialist teachers and have the opportunity to put on large-scale productions, in a dedicated space.
At Aldenham, pupils will have multiple opportunities to take part in productions throughout the school year. From the Nursery production right through to the grand finale of the Year 6 production, there’s a great variety and diversity of parts for all children - everyone from the most reticent to the most confident will have the chance to find their place on stage.
