Mr. Matthew Aston has served as the Head of the Junior School at Haileybury Almaty in Kazakhstan since April 2015. With 21 years of experience in education, he has worked in the international sector since 2009, gaining valuable expertise across the United Kingdom, Middle East, and Central Asia.

During his career, Mr. Aston has held senior leadership positions for 12 years, serving as a Head of School and Whole School Senior Leader for 8 years. He previously worked as the Deputy Head at the Kuwait English School. Mr. Aston holds the highly esteemed National Professional Qualification for Headship. He has conducted several school visits for accreditation purposes in British Schools in the Middle East and British Schools Overseas.

When selecting our candidate, we prioritised excellent academic credentials, experience as a serving Head in start-up schools, and a strong background in leading UK brand international schools. Mr. Aston demonstrated all of these qualities and, with outstanding references, he proved to possess an intuitive understanding of the Aldenham ethos.

Mr. Aston is married and will be joined by his daughter at the school from August. To familiarise himself with Mrs. Gocher and her staff, he has been visiting Riyadh during the summer term. We will ensure that opportunities are provided for you to meet him during his visit. Mr. Aston is eagerly looking forward to building relationships with you and your children. The Aldenham Foundation has coordinated Mr. Aston’s induction process and worked diligently to ensure a seamless handover and transition during the summer.
