Why Reading Is Your Child’s Most Valuable Resource
In today's technology-driven world, where screens fight for our attention, it's crucial for parents to recognise that reading is not just a pastime but your child's most valuable resource for learning and development. At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, we understand the significance of fostering a love for reading in young minds. It’s far more than an academic exercise - it’s a transformative experience that shapes character, cultivates empathy, and nurtures their learning.
Expanding Knowledge and Vocabulary
As a valuable resource, reading serves as a gateway to expanding your child's knowledge base. Books expose children to a wide range of topics, places, and ideas they might not encounter in their daily lives. Through reading, children can embark on exciting adventures, dive into historical events, explore sci-fi worlds and fantasy realms, or learn about different cultures.
Additionally, reading aids in the development of a rich vocabulary. As children encounter new words in context, their vocabulary grows organically, allowing them to communicate more effectively. A diverse vocabulary empowers children to express themselves eloquently, comprehend complex texts, and succeed academically in various subjects.
Aldenham Prep Riyadh’s Reading Facilities
At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, we recognise the immense benefits of books, and understand they’re our most valuable resource. We achieve this by providing our pupils with a range of exceptional reading facilities that are designed to enrich their literary experiences.
Our well-stocked library is a treasure trove of books spanning various genres, from classic literature to contemporary fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials. With cosy reading sections, it offers a tranquil environment for children to explore the world of books.
Throughout the school, we have dedicated book nooks where pupils can immerse themselves in reading during breaks or free periods. These inviting spaces are designed to encourage relaxation and personal reflection, allowing children to escape into the captivating worlds of their favourite stories.
World Book Day
In addition to our reading facilities, we also celebrated World Book Day in March, where pupils and teachers alike came to school dressed as their favourite storybook characters. It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to engage in the magic of books!
