A True Owner-Operated British Independent School
Aldenham Education Group (“Aldenham” or “AEG”) is the exclusive international arm of the Aldenham Foundation. Steeped in history, Aldenham is listed as one of the oldest continuously operating schools in the world, existing on the same site in North London since its founding in 1597. Delivering 428+ years of academic excellence, Aldenham embodies both the best of timeless traditions and universal values, along with a well-established history of a forward-thinking ethos that has differentiated it from its peers over the centuries.
All AEG schools are genuine extensions of Aldenham School in the United Kingdom, one of the country’s oldest and most respected independent schools, and not franchises like the vast majority of British schools operating overseas. Each school is owner-operated and delivers a deliberate, active continuation of Aldenham’s values, governance and academic standards.
APSR (Aldenham Prep School Riyadh) is among the first international schools invited to the Kingdom under Vision 2030, reflecting a shared commitment to long-term educational excellence and national development.
Aldenham Prep School Riyadh - A Truly Unique Model
AEG has positively disrupted and innovated the industry, redefining international expansion within British independent education. Our business model is unique in the expansion history of British independent schools. HOWEVER, what matters most to you, the parents, is how does this unique approach positively impact your child’s experience, education and future.
What Does This Mean for You and Your Child?
Recognised Transfer Pathway to the UK
At Aldenham Prep Riyadh, you are joining the actual Aldenham school and not just a brand on the door. Pupils go through a comprehensive application process that ensures consistency of student levels. This allows for seamless transfer or study aboard opportunities not only at our UK school but also over time with the expanding AEG school network around the world. Students enjoy a direct benefit from priority consideration as transfer students to Aldenham UK rather than joining a general waiting list at times experienced in franchise schools.
Rigorous, Teacher Recruitment Process
Every teacher is selected through a multi-stage process involving Senior UK academic leadership and or Head, ensuring depth, alignment and quality rarely found within franchise models. We start with the question: “Is this teacher qualified to a level that would be offered a position in our home school in UK?
Full UK Alumni Membership
Graduates join the Old Aldenhamian Society, a global alumni network built over four centuries.
A Curriculum Written by Aldenham UK
Our curriculum is designed and developed by Aldenham School in the United Kingdom, guaranteeing authenticity, coherence and academic integrity. Franchise schools often have significant variances from school to school in different geographies around the world. This is not the case for AEG schools creating a true network of schools that can facilitate study abroad or transfers.
A Genuine International School Network
Meaningful integration across campuses through joint trips, UK camps and student and teacher exchanges.
University-Led Camps and Academic Programmes
Academic enrichment extending learning beyond the classroom.
Teacher Exchange and Professional Immersion
International collaboration that allows teachers to train, teach and collaborate across international campuses benefiting the pupils.
Educational Rationale
“This & That, NOT This or That”
At Aldenham Education Group, our mission is to cultivate extraordinarily resilient, self-reflective, multidisciplinary thinkers and lifelong learners through a carefully choreographed education that combines unapologetic academic rigour and mastery-level learning yet built upon an ever-present foundation of the “liberal arts” approach, which has defined our culture of all-rounded development and pastoral care since our inception in 1597.
Exceptional Teachers. Carefully Chosen.
Every teacher at APSR is appointed through a rigorous, multi-stage recruitment process in both the UK and Riyadh. Appointments prioritise subject expertise, professional integrity and a deep commitment to pastoral care, ensuring consistently high standards across the school.
Specialist subject teaching begins in Year 1 for Arabic, French, Art, Music, Computing and Physical Education, and extends to core subjects from Year 5.
University Pathways and Global Futures
Our university guidance programme is carefully structured to support pupils from early exploration through to successful applications. Working closely with families, we provide personalised academic counselling, subject selection guidance and step-by-step support with applications to universities worldwide, including through UCAS for UK destinations and direct-entry routes for international institutions.
Pupils benefit from individual mentoring, preparation for personal statements and interviews and structured support in building strong academic portfolios. Alongside qualifications from Cambridge Assessment International Education and A Levels, pupils develop the wider skills universities value most: intellectual curiosity, independence, leadership and resilience.
Our approach ensures that each pupil is guided towards pathways that reflect their strengths, interests and ambitions, whether they aspire to study in the UK, the Middle East, Europe, North America or beyond.
By the end of Key Stage 5, pupils leave us confident in their direction, competitive in their applications and well prepared for the academic and personal demands of higher education.
An All-Round Education Inspired by the Best of the Boarding School Tradition
Education at APSR extends far beyond the classroom. Our approach reflects the finest traditions of British independent education, where scholarship, character and wellbeing are inseparable.
