Safeguarding and Pastoral Care

The Foundation of a Secure and Nurturing School

At Aldenham Prep School Riyadh, the wellbeing, safety and personal development of every pupil are central to our educational philosophy. Academic excellence can only flourish in an environment where children feel secure, valued and supported.
Our approach combines structured pastoral care with rigorous safeguarding practices, ensuring that every child is nurtured academically, socially and emotionally throughout their school journey.
Pastoral care at Aldenham reflects the traditions of the British independent boarding school model, where teachers know their pupils well, relationships are strong and guidance is consistent. Strong emphasis on behaviour, manners, respect and self-discipline, inspired by the British boarding school tradition, helps pupils develop character and personal responsibility. Safeguarding ensures that every child learns within a secure and protected environment where their welfare is always the highest priority.
Pastoral care at Aldenham Prep Riyadh is the intentional, structured support of each pupil’s wellbeing, character and personal development.
Our high staff-to-pupil ratios allow teachers to know every child as an individual: understanding their strengths, challenges and aspirations. This close attention enables early support, guidance and encouragement so that pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Pastoral care is embedded into daily school life, including:
Strong teacher-pupil relationships
Support for emotional wellbeing
Clear expectations and routines
Development of positive behaviour and character
Inspired by the traditions of British preparatory schools, we place strong emphasis on respect, integrity, responsibility and good manners, helping pupils develop the personal qualities needed for life beyond school.
Safeguarding at Aldenham Prep Riyadh is a shared responsibility across the entire school community. Every member of staff is trained to recognise, respond to and report concerns relating to the safety or wellbeing of a pupil.
Our safeguarding framework is designed to ensure that every child is protected, supported and able to learn in a secure environment.
Key safeguarding measures include:
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) responsible for child protection oversight
Clear procedures for reporting and responding to concerns
Secure campus access and supervision throughout the school day
Safeguarding training for all staff, with leadership trained to advanced safeguarding standards
Safeguarding policies are regularly reviewed to ensure alignment with international best practice and UK safeguarding standards.

Wellbeing and Early Support

Recognising and Responding to Pupils’ Needs
A proactive approach allows us to identify concerns early and provide appropriate support. Teachers, pastoral leaders and senior staff work closely together to ensure that every child receives guidance when needed. This coordinated approach ensures that pupils receive the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Aldenham UK

Founded in 1597, Aldenham UK is the flagship of the Aldenham Foundation and is steeped in history, with over 428 years of academic excellence. Aldenham UK - and all of our schools - embodies the best of timeless traditions and universal values, along with a documented history of a forward-thinking culture that’s served to differentiate us from our peers.
At Aldenham, we remember that achievement is an individual matter - whether that’s entry to an Oxbridge college, a sporting or cultural goal, or simply growing up into a well-balanced individual. Dedicated teaching is at the heart of everything we do. While we help our pupils to focus on their own plans, our teachers focus on our pupils.
