A Look Back On Aldenham Prep Riyadh’s Autumn Term

The autumn term at Aldenham Prep Riyadh has come to an end. Over the last few months, our pupils have formed friendships, made many memories and learned new skills. With classes drawing to a close ahead of the winter break, we take a look back on the autumn term - and what an exciting few months it was!

Celebrating as a Community

Aldenham Prep Riyadh’s Autumn Term

Throughout the first half of the academic year, we came together as a community to observe celebrations and raise awareness on important subjects. For National Saudi Day in September, pupils dressed up in traditional clothes and the iconic green and white colours of the Saudi Arabian flag to celebrate the Kingdom's culture and values. They also had the opportunity to learn more about the history and participate in a balloon shower display., where hundreds white and green balloons fell from the school ceiling!

For World Arabic Language Day in December, pupils partook in a range of activities prepared by our Head of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Mr Aljouma. It was a chance for the pupils to celebrate and appreciate the Arabic language, which is spoken worldwide by over 400 million people.

In addition to celebrating their local culture, pupils participated in Anti-Bullying Week during November. One of the week’s campaigns was Odd Socks Day which aims to raise awareness around individuality. Our pupils had the fun task of coming into school wearing their favourite mismatched socks. They also teamed up to promote empathy for World Kindness Day - and since we endeavour to support all pupils to become caring and understanding individuals, it was encouraging to see how involved they all were in all the activities.

Winter Concert

A critical element of our all-round approach to education has been encouraging our pupils to engage with all parts of the curriculum, including performing arts. It’s essential that all talents are recognised and nurtured, whether they are academic, creative or athletic.

To formally mark the end of the first term, our pupils took part in a winter stage production. It was inspiring to see how much practice and dedication was put into all aspects of the concert, from dancing and singing, to acting and playing percussion music. Having prepared for weeks, the performance was a fantastic way for parents to see all the hard work and effort their children put into bringing the production to life. It was a wonderful way to bring together teachers, pupils and parents to end an exciting first term.

As the first truly- integrated branch of Aldenham, we are proud to see how much the pupils have grown and excelled since we first opened in September 2022. We can’t wait to welcome everybody back for a brand new school term in 2023!
